Financial Management for Boards (Trenton, NJ)

Today more than ever before, a nonprofit’s finances must be able to withstand intense scrutiny, as the responsibility for financial well-being and oversight rests on the knowledge and competence of finance staff and Board members. This full-day program on the Board’s role in managing the organization’s money includes best practices in financial management, and will prepare  participants to analyze nonprofit financial statements, budgets and financial policies and procedures.  Participants will be provided with the tools to interpret budgets, income statements and balance sheets, and will leave the workshop with the tools to examine their own agency’s accounting policies and practices.  Risk management for nonprofits and how the creation of Board policies and the review of procedures can limit risk will also be covered.  Organizations will be asked to provide financial statements one month prior to the workshop. This workshop is best suited for the Executive Director, the Executive Committee, Development Chair,  Board Treasurer, members of the Finance Committee and CFO or equivalent.
